Composition and Me
I have always enjoyed composing music. My computer was always filled with .sib files containing projects of various levels of completion. I started getting serious with composition at college, where I pushed to have my pieces performed by youth orchestras, brass bands, and woodwind ensembles. I learnt to venture out of my classical comfort zone; though I still composed symphonies and gavottes, I was also experimenting with extended harmonies, complex rhythms, and the world of music technology. Before leaving college, I won Havering Young Musician of the Year 2013 for my composition 'Harrow-on-the-Hill' which was performed by Matthew Venner. This was later recorded by a different countertenor and you can listen to it on Soundcloud.
The University of Surrey was a big influence on my music. There I was thoroughly exposed to many peculiar sounds of nooks and crannies found across the world. My degree specialised in composition.
I have received praise from leading academics and composers such as Milton Mermikides, Thomas Armstrong, Jonathan Venner BEM, Andrew Smith of The Royal Academy of Music, and Stephen Chadwick.
